Arrived in Chester.
Not to many dramas today mainly averted by an eagle eyed spot that the green pen was following the county line, not a recognised footpath. It also sent us over the A55 which was like human frogger - never realised Steve was so quick over 6 yards.
The idea of walking up the River Dee cycle path seemed a genuinely good one until we got there - its dull in a spectacular way. So dull in fact that we were reduced to playing world cup of food games. However after 6 days of walking clearly delirium had set in (or I am walking with people with no tastebuds) despite my best attempts to extol the virtues of Cheddar the cup was won by Brie, shocking, Steven refused to play as Lancashire did not qualify for the quarter finals. Other notable results included Steak and Ale pie as the world cup of pies, in a shock result the hobnob beat the digestive in the biscuit cup and tomato soup won its catagory over the other notably dull finalist mushroom. A pick the hand that the dandelion is in play off having seen off Hot and Sour in the semis.
the boys have been a bit grumpy all told today though - Nigel clearly had monthly issues from the off - hopefully the thought of getting to the Black tommorow will cheer them up, unless my incessant chirping about the mighty Potters reaching the play offs gets to them! Best fans in the world Mark .......

Today's walking completed. Not a classic day and to be fair we have all had enough. I've had my first blister but unlike some of my fellow walkers I've kept the pain under control with mind over matter.
the morning proved that even the green line can not build bridges across the a55 - a detour nearly saw steve turned into road kill but then again with his pack on it probably would have taken a fully laden transit or bigger to knock him over.
A brief lunch was only notable for flash drinking his pint of cider like it was going out of fashion. Common view is that the whole lookalikey thing has shot his confidence. We've tried to build him up with a couple of easy days manning the map but no good so far. the one thing he probably needs is beyond our job description, he'll have to wait for ness for that...
Oh yes - steve lost it this afternoon. The cheese olympics was a farce quite frankly and steve took his ball home - he was still muttering an hour later about the qualities of his local fromage.
A night in chester beckons - we all deserve a drink i reckon!

another day over - one spent trudging up and down welsh hills.
Last night was spent at bangor on dee races, some of us studied the form and lost whereas the name pickers cleaned up - no justice.
At least nigel's dry river bed/definitely a path error should see him nowhere near the map today - which has to be a result, on to chester then.

HAPPY
BIRTHDAY2 days to go yahoo! After a succesful (for some) evening at the races we retired early to our b&b - our rock and roll life style continued with coffee and biscuits before an early bed. I guess that's what happens when you have two over 40's on the team!
A couple of thankyou's first. Cheers to bangor on dee races for letting us in for free :-) second to microsoft. As an employee i can already claim up to 7500 in sponsorship matching. This week though i heard that the sports and social club had decided to give us 1000 towards our accomodation costs. a huge help which meant a great deal and means we will be really close to our 21501 target :-)
It's taken 6 days but we are close to understanding steve's accent now. He's confused everyone with his requestS for turp for his blisters - tape! and then yesterday at lunch his comment 'wurs bin' to which resident comedian mark replied 'up t mountain' - we finally deciphered this as i bin for his sandwich wrapper.
Today is mold to chester and the green pen route has met with muted approval. Mark had a good look for short cuts (sorry, alternative routes) but had to concede after 5 days of random green line zig zags across the maps, i'd finally got it right. We'll see...
